Character Information
Name: Seox
Canon: Granblue Fantasy
Canon Point: The end of the Event "Seeds of Redemption"
Age: Unknown, presumably in his early 20s

History:
This has been made into bullet points for a write-up:
-Seox was born on the island where the Karm Clan had resided, then known by the name of Xing. The Karm clan was well known for being exceptional assassins and fighters.
-He was born with immense talent and skill, but that instead caused his family to fear and shun him. As a result he was locked away with little contact with the outside world.
-In a desperate attempt to have Xing live a better life with the help of his skyfaring friend, his father had him go through the coming-of-age ceremony earlier than what is expected. Tragically Xing then went berserk and massacred the Karm Clan.
-Seox was alone on that island until the friend of his father had found him, then bringing him out of despair and treating him well, unlike his family. While they eventually parted ways, Seox cherished that time he did spend with the skyfarer, hoping to meet him again in the future.
-He was recruited into the Eternals, a group of individuals deemed as strongest in their works who will band together to stop major conflicts.
-He later meets the crew of the Grancypher, their paths crossing because the captain has gotten a hold of a legendary weapon that he is also seeking. He also joins the crew because they have a similar destination to find someone important to them. (it's later revealed that it's the same person, the captain's father and Seox's Savior.
Through overcoming the challenges of the Eternals and the weapon itself, Seox comes to accept the idea that he can use his strength to protect, rather than fear it.
In the event Seeds of Redemption, Seox has to confront his past through an encounter with a survivor of the Karm Clan, wanting revenge. Through this event, Seox learns how to come to terms with his guilt and fear of living for himself.

Personality:
Seox is both a complex and yet simple character. His background leads to complexes, he tries to hide a lot of his inner conflicts, and yet he's motivated by simple things.

First and foremost, Seox is a martial artist and a man of action. He doesn't hesitate to act as an assassin because of his background, but he only resorts to it if necessary, such as when bandits were about to raid the Grancypher while the crew was asleep. Since he's not a social person, he feels that actions are more than sufficient. His strengths lie in more physical areas, where he has more skill in, through natural talent and experience. It also suits his preference to follow commands and act under a leader or someone who can guide him, such as Seofon or the main player character.

He tries to maintain a serious air about him. The fearsome looking mask he wears at all times helps with this, as he doesn't show his emotions. He also can control his voice well enough to sound gruff and intimidating. He tends to be grounded and no-nonsense, providing that for the more whimsical or eccentric characters. He expresses frustration when dealing with things he doesn't understand. However when he has a similar goal with another, chances are he'll get along quite well with the other. Of the Eternals, he interacts fine with the more sensible Tweyen and Anre.

In part because of being poorly socialized and mistreated as a child, Seox has strong social anxiety, to where it can even be considered a social phobia. To cope with this, he wears a mask, which seems to be a tradition of his clan when they perform assassin work. With it, he can act more detached and aloof, as he can hide his face and emotions. He speaks in a brief, but sometimes cryptic manner because he tries to use very few words if he can help it, or speaks his thoughts which may not make sense. When he loses his mask, often by others taking it, the facade completely shatters. Seox speaks in a higher tone of voice like a child, begging for it to be returned to him. Both are mostly genuine parts of his personality, only one has a mask to cover up weaknesses and the other is hampered by a phobia.

His motivations and thoughts can be traced back to his need to be guided by another's own objectives. It is similar to how a child seeks guidance from adults and as Seox did not have a pleasant childhood, that led to his own difficulty with personal autonomy. He goes along with the decisions and ideas of others because he lacks confidence in making choices for himself at points. Sometimes he may not agree completely which leads to him being sarcastic and brusque as a response. He wishes to do what is best for everyone, hence him being more of a follower than a leader because it is where he is willing to put in his trust in others, like Seofon. He grows aware of this being a problem as it fuels his anxieties and the fear of hurting others because of his own actions, especially in his past. He is reminded It is at the climax of Seeds of Redemption the Seox understands something he wants for himself

One of Seox's fears is losing his humanity and for others to see him as a person. He defines this through how others see him, and the connections with others that matter to him. He has unprecedented power, but he holds back in fear of losing control of himself and hurting those around him. This had occurred as a child when he massacred the Karm Clan, which horrified him as he became what they feared about him: becoming too powerful. He learns very slowly through his interactions with Feower, someone who is deeply jealous of his strength, and frustrated with Seox for holding back.

Seox's other fear is being selfish and self-centered. He has a very, very low opinion of himself, because of his crimes and believing of himself to have an unfortunate fate. These negative feelings are strengthened when others, even enemies do not see him as a person but as a monster, because he was called that by other members of the clan. He does not want to drag down others in his personal matters, which leads to his actions in Seeds of Redemption and tries to turn himself in so that trouble isn't caused for the Eternals. However, his low esteem can be abated by the support of others who genuinely care for him.

Others see and acknowledge that Seox is truly a kind individual beneath his emotional scars and fronts. What he does is often for others because he desires their safety and happiness, even if he does not see it that way at first. He grows soft spots for younger characters like fellow Eternal member Fif and the primal Phoebe, almost becoming like a brother to them. He also appreciates the kindness shown towards him despite his attempts to put himself down, as seen with Lyria and Vyrn constantly cheering him up, reassuring Seox he is not a monster but their friend and valued companion. He takes their words to heart and for their sake, makes an effort to reflect and even cheer up a little.

Abilities & Skills:
Eternals are a group of individuals famed as being the best warriors in their respective fields/weapons of choice, with Seox being gifted in martial arts and wielding large claws in his hands. Seox learned his clan's techniques in assassination, and can be brutally efficient in dispatching those he deems a threat. However, he does dislike his strength and will hold back. One technique he's shown is leaving after-images or doppelgangers from fighting at a fast pace.

Inventory/Companions:Eternals garb, which includes a variant of the uniform, a hooded cloak, and a metal mask
His claw weapons
Extra set of clothes to wear as someone apart from the Eternals

Choice: Monster (Merrow)
Reason: I chose Monster because it aligns with how Seox can be perceived in the story as a monster by others. He also perceives his talents as monstrous and initially dislikes them. The concept of a monster seems more physical in nature compared to a witch, and Seox is a physical fighter. It seems fun to explore and work with without too much working around. As for why a merrow creature, they seem to lead toward being playful and covetous — traits that are unlike Seox because he is so straightforward, unselfish, and had a traumatic, lonely childhood. He seeks others but in a way he believes is unhealthy and self-serving, which parallels a Merrow's habits.
